As the chief storyteller for the American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE initiative, Tara is capturing inspirational LUNG FORCE Hero stories from around country. Through her passion for human interest storytelling, she hopes this column will intimately convey the compelling journeys of survivors, loved ones and of those who have been personally affected by lung cancer.
"Lung cancer stole my uncle from me before I ever had the chance to get to know him. Now I live a constant battle of trying to get my brother to quit smoking for fear that one day he'll develop symptoms and there will be no turning back," Tara explains. "That's why I'm writing about the number one cancer killer for women—to spread the word about this cancer and the urgent need for research funding to put an end to the unexpected loss that too often results from diagnosis."
She previously worked as a reporter, researcher and writer for several magazines including Fortune, Fast Company, and Vogue, where she covered lifestyle, business, health and politics.
